Mother’s Day Mania!!!

Dear Princess M,

As I write this letter to you, I have Billy Joel playing in the background and I am thinking of my own mom. I wish she could be here to know you. She would love to hear you talk about your love of reading (which you no doubt got from her!!). Or about your friends at school, and how much you love cheerleading. Or that they are cleaning out the city pool and how you just can’t wait till it opens!!!

I have to admit I also wish she was here so I could ask her if she thinks I’m doing an OK job with you. I try so very hard to make sure you feel loved and safe. I hope someday you look back on your childhood and smile.

 

You are the one that gave me the name “Mommy” and the sound of it is so sweet, it truly melts my heart. I want to leave you with my alltime favorite quote, then I gotta run cause you want to play connect four!!

1. Do you sing out loud in the car when you're driving?

All the time!

2. What would you never be caught doing?

Smoking. I quit almost 2 years ago, and I will never go back..ever!

3. Will you go #2 in a public restroom?

Only in a dire emergency…gross!

4. Have you ever broken a bone?

My right index finger..it’s still crooked

5. Do you prefer cooking or baking?

I truly hate baking…for two reasons. One being I can’t eat that kind of food, when I’m trying to lose weight. And two, It’s too precise for me. The only reason I ever do bake is for Princess M’s benefit~

1. How much time do you spend on the computer a day?

More time than any human should! I am overly connected…!

2. Will you pay for your children's college or raise them to pay for their own way?

If we hit the lottery then of course. The reality is, no we probably will not pay for their college tuition. But we will most definitely help out as much as we can.

3. Have you ever been in a car accident?

Yes! And it was a bad one too. We T-boned a car going about 45 mph. Their fault, not ours. Long story short? I was outta work for about 3 months and we got a nice settlement.  The end.

4. What is your favorite book?

Hands down..The Notebook. No wait!! Twilight. Yeah, for sure, it’s Twilight. But then there’s Sunshine..That was a great book! Well then there’s just about every novel by Jodi Picoult..IDK…I just love to read.

5. Do you make your bed everyday?

No I do not! But I sure do preach to my 6 year old about making her’s. And that my friends, is why I'm the Mother!

Another angel got her wings

I don’t think I’ve ever been this upset over someone I had never met before. (Except for Kayleigh Anne Freeman, the 1lb miracle)

Sweet, innocent, 2 year old  Layla Grace has lost her battle with Neuroblastoma.

I have to be honest.  I believe in God..I pray. I just don’t know how or why God would take such an innocent little life. I know ALL life is precious. But a child is something different. A child is a CHILD!!

I am just so upset. I was so hoping for a miracle, as I’m sure the parents of this angel were too.

Since I can not be there to attend the celebration of life for Layla, I am going to release pink balloons in her honor on Saturday afternoon with my little ones. Then I will hug them and hold them and tell them how very much I love them!!

God bless you sweet Layla Grace. You’ve touched my heart so very deeply. I will always remember you, and I never even “knew” you.

It’s about what I DO have..not what I don’t.

I was watching the movie Precious last night, and it just made me so sad. I know I had it pretty rough as a kid, but then you see something like that and realize there is always someone who’s problems are bigger than your own.

That’s why nowadays I really try to look at what I do have, instead of what I don’t have.

I do have an amazing husband that works hard for us and loves his children.

I do have a home, and it’s filled with love and warmth.

I do have clean clothes on my back.

I do have food on the table every night.

I do have things that may seem so simple to you and I, but are huge to others. Running water, heat, a bed.

I do have my health. And my teeth! :0)

She’s been asking for what seems like FOREVER to have a party at Chuck E. Cheese. So little Princess got her wish!

So much tragedy...thank God for healthy babies..

I have stumbled across quite a few blogs over the past few year that deal with a lot of tragedy in peoples lives. It just makes my heart ache.
Before I even found Mckmama. I came across Kayleigh Anne Freeman. Such a sweet angel, taken home all too soon. Through Kayleigh's blog I found Stellan, who by the grace of God is such a miracle boy!! And I believe that through Mckmama I also found Matt Logelin, who's wife passed away shortly after having their beautiful daughter Maddie.
And now I have come across Layla Grace. Sweet beautiful Layla Grace, whom I can't seem to get out of my head. I have been thinking about this wonderful little one, who will soon leave this world and go to the next, and it completely breaks my heart.
I am so thankful for my healthy children. I watch them sleep, play, laugh...and I am overcome with such a joy to have them in my life.
I think we should all just take a minute and thank God for having such healthy amazing kids!!
And please keep Layla Grace in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm sick of being sick

Everyone in our house is sick!
It all started with a little runny nose on Prince M..next thing you know...we're all coughing and can't breathe!
And now as I type this, my ears feel clogged. Great! Just what I needed on top of everything else. And ear infection.
Excuse me while I scream at the top of my lungs!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Thanks! Now I feel better..well only a little.
Hopefully we will all be feeling better soon. This Sunday is Princess M's birthday party. And at Chuck E Cheese no less.

Debt free are we!!!

I am so proud of the Mr and I!! We have finally paid off all of those pesky credit cards!! Yep! All the credit card debt is gone!! Outta here!! I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off of our shoulders. It's awesome!
So hopefully that means this time next year we will start house hunting! I am so excited for that! To finally own our own home?? That would truly be a dream come true for me!
We may also have some exciting news from Mr. G really soon! Keeping my lips sealed and fingers crossed on that one for a while...I guess you'll have to stay tuned to find that one out.

Kiddies are amazing..everyone is just getting over a nasty cold and awaiting springs arrival. Hopefully it will get here sooner rather than later.

1. What are you most afraid of?

Death. Leaving my children without a Mother. I am so terrified that I keep journals so “in case” anything happens to me…they’ll have a little piece of our lives together. Very morbid, I know!

2. Do you use a flat iron or curling iron?

I like to switch it up. I have pretty long hair, so some days I flat iron it..and some days I like it curly.

3. Hands-free or phone to the ear?

I should definitely try out hands free…but I hate how loud it sounds.

4. Do you have a matching bedroom set?

As a matter of fact we do..and I hate it.

5. Do you believe in the paranormal?

Hmmm..I’m really not sure.

Happy Birthday Princess M!

I can’t even begin to type without my eyes watering. Or getting a little choked up.

As this day has been approaching, I have been asking myself the same question over and over.

“Where have the past 6 years gone?”

I feel like it was literally just a few days ago that you came into this world..pink and beautiful ~ not to mention LATE! Yes a week and half late…ten days! Ugh..I was so uncomfortable, I just wanted you in my arms. I was so impatient to meet you. And now what I would give for you to be a newborn baby again..snuggling in my arms, or sleeping on my chest. Just one more day…

But oh! How wonderful you are now!!

Sometimes I glance at you and it really does take my breath away. You are so beautiful!

Not to mention an amazing big sister! You love playing with your little brother…even when he’s bugging you.

So who is Princess M at 6 years old?

Funny, smart, silly, goofy, very girly!

Reading to herself and having stories read to her. Singing. Playing dress up. Wii bowling. Sleepovers. Pink. Webkinz. Shining stars. Board games. Play doh. Snuggling. Her brother. Her aunt. School. Cheerleading. Swimming. Summer. Bowling. Christmas!

Right now I really have a case of the blah's.
I'm not depressed.
I'm not exactly "happy".
Nor am I mad.
Sad.
Glad.

Just feeling in a funk lately.

“THE” Rainbow cake…here’s mine!

 

I first saw this cake on MckMama's blog.
I've been going back and forth with myself about trying to bake it..considering I don't bake.
Don't get me wrong, I love to cook...baking? Not so much!

Then Princess M saw the pictures on MckMama's blog...of all the pretty rainbow cakes. Then she tells me it was the cake she wants for her birthday..which means I have to make it..er bake it. And I don't bake.

So I bought a few boxes of cake mix, quite a bit of food coloring and a dozen of eggs.

About two weeks went by and every now and then I'd look at the recipe and think about attempting to make (er bake) a practice cake.

FINALLY the other day I started my attempt. Did I happen to mention I truly despise baking?

So I prepare all of the colors...

 

 

I will admit, that part was a little bit fun!

Then the assembling began.

 

And the finished product??

I think it turned out pretty good, considering I don’t bake.

1. Hair color..Au naturale..or not?

Not natural..but not far off at all. Im naturally a medium brunette, and I color to a dark brunette.

2. If somebody has food in their teeth or lipstick on their teeth do you tell them?

Eeeeeeeeeek! It really depends on who it is. If it’s my husband, sister or a really good friend? Yes I’d most definitely tell them. If it’s a stranger or an acquaintance? No way!

3. Would you rather have a million dollars or your vision of the perfect body?

Well couldn’t a million dollars buy me the perfect body?

4. Favorite magazine?

I cannot and will not chose just one. I buy way too many magazines and subscribe to at least 5 different ones too! I am what some may call a “magazine whore”.

5. Bra style..lacey or plain?

I have a few of each, thank you very much!

6. If you walked into Victoria's Secret..would you most likely come out with something sexy or comfy?

Comfy…Just went there yesterday and bought some Pink brand sweatpants…ohhhh so comfy!

7. Do you fake and bake?

Is this tanning? If so, then no I do not.

8. What's your favorite body part on a man?

A pearly white smile!

I was a really wild teenager…we’ll just leave it at that! LOL

I think going to bed after 11 and waking up by 630 or 7 let’s me qualify for a little bit of both, don’t you?

I never thought of it until now, but I only use one hand

4. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is).

I really am not into politics much. I supposed you could call me a Democrat. I really think the government has all the say anyway, and regardless of what we do or do not want, they will do what THEY want.

5. Are you a pet person?

I am…hubby is not. He makes the final call on animals in our house, so I guess I lose!

Not me Monday!

 

It was not me that used the phrase, “take the saw out of your mouth” nope! Not me! (good thing it was a toy)

I also didn’t eat two rolls at dinnertime! I would never jeopardize my diet, for the sake of carbs! Never! Not me!

It was also not me that gave the kids a “quickie” bath, so I could watch my TV show! Bath time is always playtime at our house. I’d never take that away from my kids. Nope! Not me!

Hmmm, this is a tough one. I'd really be missing my family, but I think I'd chose one of my best friends. Either would do just fine!

I have to admit, it's an addiction of mine! My favorite gossip blog is here. But what I really love is magazines!

A new show I've picked up on is Modern Family! Super funny! But an old fave is Grey's Anatomy.

Flats

7. If you had to choose one natural disaster to go through, what would you choose..Earthquake, Tornado, or Hurricane?
I suppose I'd choose a hurricane, since you'd get a lot of warning!

I have thongs, panties, boyshorts and ahhhhhhhh...the dreaded granny panties!

How do I feel today, you ask?

Proud that I've kept up with my workout for the entire week.
Proud that I've kept up with my diet for the entire week.
Annoyed with my husband, who seems' to forget everything.
Stressed about money, like always.
Happy that I have healthy children.
A little hungry.

A lot tired. I have a 12 month old that still doesn't sleep through the night. I'm always tired.

Sad, that my babies are growing so fast.
Proud that I've been smoke-free for so long!! Yaaa me!
Lonely. I feel like it's just me and my kids.
Lonely, really missing my girlfriends.
Great full that I have a great sister that's my best friend!
Excited that we may go sledding today!
Guilty that ate a little too many carbs yesterday...remember that diet I told you about?

1. What's your "comfort food"?

If I can only pick one, I’d have to say mashed potatoes! Home made of course, by my hubby. When he makes them, I pretend not to notice how much butter he spoons into them, before he mashes them up.

2. Do you send Thank You's (handwritten or email)?

I always try to remember, but I’m terrible at it.

3. If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose?

I’d have to say Lost. I want to this smoke monster for myself!

4. What is your favorite online recipe site?

well a lot of the time, I’ll just google what I’m looking for. I am partial to recipezarr.com though, because I like that they have the nutritional information on each recipe.

5. If you had to choose: "Friends" or "Seinfeld"?

I absolutely hate Seinfeld…it depresses me! On the other hand I have seen every episode of Friends there is…about a million times each, and I still laugh! I could watch Friends all day!

It's MY gray hair, and I'll cry if I want to!

Yep! That's right! A stinking gray hair was hiding on my head!
How did it get there? Well maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm almost 30. My hubbby thinks I'm being silly, but that single little gray hair really made me feel sad...and old.

So, yes honey. It's my (single, solitary, itty-bitty) gray hair...and I'll cry if I want to!

I’d love to say a character from some classic novel, but honestly I only read fluffy books. So I’d have to say I would love to bring Noah from the Notebook to life, especially  if he were a real person and we could talk about his love for his dear wife Allie
2. Where did you get your very first kiss?

I believe I was in 6th grade at the Roller rink.

3. How did you welcome in the New Year?

We were with family, playing the Wii, eating junk and having fun!

I hate to admit it but I am not a big Beatles fan…I know, right!!
